Vagator Beach

This beach is located at 15° 36' 12" N x 73° 44' 1" E (Latitude: 15.60342, Longitude: 73.73383). It is 9 kilometers (5 miles) from Mapusa and 22 kilometers (14 miles) from Panaji. The closest railway station is Thivim.

How to Reach

You can board a bus from Panaji and Mapusa that leaves for Vagator every fifteen minutes. The adjacent interstate bus station is the KTC bus station at Mapusa. To reach Vagator from Baga or Calangute, it is advisable to board a cab or drive down by a bike as there is no bus from these beaches to Vagator. To get at the beach, you can walk or drive from Big Vagator to Chapora-Anjuna Road, from where an elongated walkway falls sharply down to an extensive stretch of white sand.

Vagator Beach, north of Anjuna, is the center of Goa's trance party scene. The beach itself is located at the bottom of a steep cliff, and is divided into three sections -- Big Vagator (the main stretch of beach, overrun by Indian tourists), Little Vagator (past the rocks, known as Tel Aviv Beach due to the number of Israelis there) and Ozran (Spaghetti Beach in the far south, dominated by Italians).

It abodes several dilapidated farm houses and scenic Portuguese bungalows. Separated by two kilometres of cliff tops and arid pampas from Anjuna Beach, Vagator is dominated by red fortifications of Chapora Fort. Coved by white sand, Little Vagator or Vagator is indisputably gorgeous, just like a visual postcard. Supported by a vertical wall of disintegrating palm-fringed laterite, Vagator beach is quieter and less reachable as compared to its neighbours.

Other Details

Disco Valley is nearby. Accommodations at Vagator are inland instead of on the beach, with many people staying there long-term. Head for Nine Bar, high above Ozran beach at sunset for early evening partying.

Vagator Beach houses many cafeterias and rest-o-bars. They can be spotted along the main street and the by lanes that direct towards Ozran Beach. There are also many joints located behind Big Vagator Beach that serves delicious seafood along with some exquisite Indian dishes and fish dominated Goan delicacies. Nightlife at the Vagator beach concentrates on Primrose coffee bar that boasts of its exceptional live music and ambiance.

Resorts at the Vagator beach are very few. Accommodation alternatives at Vagator beach vary from beach shacks to plush resorts. During peak time of year, travelers may have to face some hassles locating housing facilities at the beach. The popular resorts at Vagator beach such as Sterling Vagator Beach Resort, greet their visitors with an extensive range of modern amenities and exciting excursions at reasonable costs.

The resorts are at close proximity to the most extravagant beaches of Goa and are set against the significant milieu of Chapora Fort. Vagator Beach resorts offer cottage styled housing services with spacious and aerated rooms that offer panoramic sight of the shoreline.
